Jeremy Balfour Scottish Conservative MSP for the Lothian Region has welcomed the announcement by City of Edinburgh Council that a consultation will now be held before any final decision is taken regarding the future of Leith’s Registrar’s Office. This follows the announcement by the Council at the end of August that the Office would be closing and all services moving centrally to the City Chambers.
Commenting, Jeremy said “I welcome this change of heart by the Council, as it is only right that decisions over the future of such an historic and important service in Leith are taken in consultation with the local residents and elected representatives. I strongly oppose any centralisation of this service. Leith Registrar’s Office must remain open for Leithers.”
“I would also be opposed to any suggestion that Kirkliston and South Queensferry Registrar’s Offices were to be closed.”
