Jeremy Balfour MSP has expressed his concerns over waiting times at Riverside Medical Practice after Musselburgh residents indicate that this remains a source of frustration.
Riverside Medical Practice has come under fire over the last few months due to the long waiting times patients have had to endure before getting an appointment, many not being able to contact the practice at all.
When Mr Balfour conducted a survey recently with some residents of Musselburgh, waiting times for appointments at the practice was flagged as being one of the greatest concerns for locals.
The reports of long waiting times continue despite the practice having received a package of support from East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership back in October to help tackle these issues.
The Scottish Conservative MSP for Lothian commented on the issue, saying:
“It is appalling that constituents in Musselburgh are still struggling to get appointments with their GP, or indeed even make contact with the practice.
“I have heard from one constituent whose 83-year-old mother had to telephone the Practice on 45 occasions before a member of staff answered her call.
“When people are ill, the last thing that they need is the stress of being unable to make an appointment with their GP.
“I have written to Riverside Medical Practice about my concerns and I hope to see changes being made that will significantly reduce these waiting times.”
