The 66th Edinburgh North East Scouts group are celebrating their 100-year anniversary by organising a number of remote activities.
One activity that has already been held was a competition to design a special centenary badge, which was won by a young Cub and will be worn by all of the Scout group throughout 2021.
The Scout group, who normally meet on Friday evenings in Charlotte Chapel Church, on Shandwick Place, is made up of 110 young people made up of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers.
Stuart Sinclair, Group Scout Leader of the 66th Edinburgh North East said:
“We are delighted to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 66th Edinburgh North East Scouts and, during a hard year, it has been good to still be able to engage with each other through virtual activities.
“We miss not meeting in person, but we are looking forward to celebrating our centenary year together properly, hopefully in the summertime.”
Jeremy Balfour MSP for Lothian, who lodged a motion in the Scottish Parliament to congratulate the Scout group on their anniversary, has said:
“Many congratulations to the 66th Edinburgh North East Scouts on their 100th anniversary.
“I want to give particular mention to the many volunteers throughout the years who have been vital to the running of this group and who have positively impacted the lives of hundreds of young people.
“May the group continue to thrive for another century.”
