The Scottish Government has today released official statistics on crimes and offences recorded by the police in Scotland for November 2020.
The publication shows that, compared to November 2019, there has been a 43 percent in crime in Midlothian. Last November there were 255 recorded crimes, this November there were 364 recorded crimes.
Lothian MSP, Jeremy Balfour, has praised the police officers who working on the frontline, responding to these crimes but has called on SNP Ministers to guarantee that the police force will be given all the resources they need.
The Scottish Conservative MSP said:
“The figures released today that show a significant rise in crime in Midlothian are greatly concerning and require a quick and appropriate response from the Scottish Government.
“Our police officers have been working tirelessly on the frontline during this pandemic, but they can only do so much to reduce crime without the appropriate resources.
“SNP government ministers need to create more provisions for the police force so that people living in Midlothian can rest assured that there is a robust police presence in their community and that crime is being tackled.”
